At my home computer I installed win95 and added the pharlap.386 to the sys.ini and it runs fine. Well I am having a big problem.

I am running trying to run it on a laptop w/ win95 installed. R12 DOS ran fine on it before I installed win95 on it. I followed my same steps to try to get R12 DOS to run on my laptop!!

But this R12 DOS is a Network version does that matter?? But then I installed R12 DOS Local and it gave me the same error. Here is the error I get!!!

FATAL ERROR:!PMSDOSA 3 Please help if you know what this means!!! I cannot and do not want to run in DOS mode because then I lose my Network Access. And if I need back into Windows it would be a hassle. Our office has recently switched to Windows 95 and happily we've had no problems continuing to run AutoCAD R12 for DOS. So what's our problem? We've decided to connect our office computers with an Ethernet 10Mbps network.

In particular, we need to move away from or current 'nike net' system of sharing files with floppy disks. Since Windows 95 has built in peer to peer netwroking capabilities, I thought we would be home free.

This will work well with everthing EXCEPT AutoCAD R12 (for DOS). I can only seem to get AutoCAD to work by restartiong the computer in DOS mode. I'm afraid doing this will dump any networking capabilites of Windows 95 - and in turn eliminate any possibility of easy file sharing for our CAD users. Two questions- 1.

Is it at all possible to run AutoCAD R12 (dos) using the standard DOS window inside of Win 95 Like every other DOS program we have!???? Or do you really have to re-boot - like we have been?

If not, does anybody have any suggestions for simple file sharing? Thanks is Advance for any tips or advice.

We are migrating to AutoCAd R13 for Windows, but unless the C4 patch is a miracle-worker given our current system configurations and staff attitudes R12 is still faster for production work.

AUTOCAD 12 for DOS / WINDOWS 98 compatibility HELP NEEDED!! I’m trying to run my AutoCAD 12 package on my Pentium 233 which has Win98 as it’s operating system. SHELL environment appears to be the problem. AUTOCAD is normally stable. But if the SHELL / SH Command is used during a work session (to SHELL into DOS), a LOCKUP occurs upon Quitting or Ending a drawing session. Have tried CONFIG.SYS line SHELL=C: COMMAND.COM /e:1024 with/out the /p switch, pointing to the current Win98 Command.COM as well as pointing to other Command.COM’s but I have not been able to find a way to retain use of the DOS C: Prompt when I close an AutoCAD session during which I used the SHELL Command.

“F8” key on BOOT into SAFEMODE DOS Prompt Only returns message: “EMM386: Unrecoverable privileged operation error #1 – press ENTER to reboot,” just prior to lockup. I tried installing “DEVICE=PHARLAP.386” in the Windows SYSTEM.INI file under 386Enh, and copying PHARLAP.386 into C: Windows?

I found the Win98 AutoCAD ICON Properties dialogue box for allowing ALTERNATE DOS BOOTING FILES, but I don’t seem to have the magic key line? Is there a way to modify the ACAD.PGP external commands section to redefine the “Memory Reserve”? “SHELL, 0,.OS Command:,4”? Here's a message that was posted a few days ago, maybe it will help.
